About BCCEC
The Black Country Constructing Excellence Club is the Constructing Excellence club representing Dudley, Sandwell, Walsall and Wolverhampton and is one of the 6 clubs which represents the West Midlands Centre for Constructing Excellence across the west midlands region. The Club’s overriding objectives are to share knowledge about Construction Excellence and Best Practice issues with each other and the wider construction community and to share this knowledge so that the performance of local construction organisations improves. We are proud to represent the local construction community in this goal.

Who should join?
Anyone who is involved in the supply chain serving construction will be welcomed by the Club and encouraged to join us in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere for networking, gaining valuable knowledge and finding out about key issues and changes in the industry. Our target membership is wide ranging and not limited to any particular part of the supply chain or company size – whether you are in manufacturing, surveying, design, development, regulation and inspection, building, facilities management, an occupier or one of the many businesses that keep the construction core businesses operational we would be pleased to greet you. We do not have any age limits either and would encourage new entrants and less experienced members of construction to attend our events and expand their personal network which is often beneficial for career progression.
Our Events
We aim to stage at least 9 events each year where you can learn, share and network – one each month from January to June and then again from September to November. Events are normally held on the last Thursday of the month (may be changed to avoid half-term) and we move venues around the four boroughs so everyone gets a chance of attending a local event. You get to choose which events you attend to meet your interests or you may even choose to attend them all if the networking aspect is of key importance to you.
The Club is a voluntary funded not-for-profit organisation which receives no funding from industry or Constructing Excellence and thus relies on membership and sponsorship for its lifeline. Optional membership subscriptions, which are annual, are deliberately kept low so as not to discourage or turn lower earners in construction away. For those that choose not to become Members we will ask for a payment on the door to attend events, again at a cost which is deliberately kept low – please see the “Paying on the door” information on the Joining The Club page of this web site. If you are a student or unemployed we will not charge you to enter an event if you have relevant proof.
The Club was established back in April 2007 with an inaugural event at Stourbridge College. We are proud that since the launch we have gone from strength to strength setting new examples of Club activities in the UK such as trade fares, bursaries and “Taste Of Construction” events for schools amongst our innovative approach. We are always willing to listen to new ideas for events, presentation topics and things that you want to know more about - you can deliver your ideas through our “Have Your Say” forum.
So, what will make you want to join the Club? What benefits and value can you expect to gain for the low subscription of less than £5 an event? Listed below are the key things our members experience:
- Gain valuable new knowledge and benefit through participation
- Learn more about best practice and innovation
- Keep up to date with industry regulations and changes
- Engage more with the local construction community
- Meet like-minded people seeking to make a difference to their business, career and performance
- Networking in construction in an easy atmosphere
- Enjoy the social side of the events
- Seek help for yourself or your organisation – meet people who can help
- Contribute to local procurement in Black Country construction
- Introduce colleagues, customers and suppliers to a new opportunity to add value to themselves and their business
Since the Club was launched in April 2007 over 1000 people have attend our events and attendance continues to rise. Members and guests comprise a large number of regular attendees who keep returning to our events for their value, knowledge sharing and networking opportunity however, we are always pleased to welcome their guests and new people to the club. We are a well established local Construction industry network and knowledge source which others seek to collaborate with. We know people are doing business together since meeting through the Club, an example being the Emcor academy at City of Wolverhampton College.
